Presentations: (Beginning at 900 a.m.) Kids in the Forest, presented by various “kids outdoors” groups [Mountain Sun (Michael Brown), Outdoor Academy (Glenn Delaney), Muddy Sneakers (Lindsay Green), Mountain Roots (Ali Lien)] Everyone knows kids grow better outdoors! (Kent, David, Jennifer to help set up Thursday, April 11, 3:30 p.m. at the Election Center)

Future Programs:
May 10 – Field trip to DSRF to revisit Chestnut restoration and other projects (Jason)(Transportation TBD. Bring water and a snack, wear sturdy shoes and clothing.)

September 13 – Ken Webb, TC Landfill Manager: The State of the Landfill, reducing the waste stream (Peter), Kim Corum, Moving to Conservers:

October 11 – Tom Tribble: Birds and Climate Change-canaries in the coal mine. (Bart)

November 8 – David Brown, USA Corps of Engineers, Regulatory Specialist/Geologist: (Mark)

April 2020 – Maria Wise, Director Mills River Partnership, Monetizing Riparian Zones (Possible field trip)

New Business:
Accepting membership applications through the county website. Peter and Mark will be at the ends of their second appointments. Applications are on hand for Elizabeth Reshower and Tom Sweeney.

Accepting program suggestions for 2020 beginning January

Old Business:
Letter supporting the continuation of AmeriCorps position was forwarded to County manager and N.C. Cooperative Extension of Transylvania County office on March 10, 2019.

Position Description for Natural Resources Specialist forwarded to County manager on March 10, 2019.

Should we do more big presentations? Quarterly? This will take an energetic project coordinator/team of TNRC and partner members.

Consideration of resolution supporting voluntary discontinuance of single-use plastic bags, plastic straws, and foam food containers. (Attached)
