- This cooking program is open to all clover-buds, ages 5-7 years old as of January 1st, 2023. Youth will learn basic cooking & baking skills and make several delicious recipes. Snack and lunch provided. Ages: 5-7 | Cost: $10 | Class Limit: 9
June 21-22 Citizenship Focus
- North Carolina 4-H offers NC Citizenship Focus to young people interested in learning more about local and state government. Some of the conference highlights include: citizenship themed workshops, NC SPIN, panel discussions, distinguished speakers, a Legislative breakfast, and visits with elected officials. Please contact the office for an application.
Deadline for registration is May 12, 2023. Ages: 13-18 | Cost: $175| Class Limit: 3
June 27-28 4-H Cooking in the Kitchen from 9:00- 3:00
- Throughout this 2 day program, youth will learn several cooking skills and different recipes that they can make at home! With a fun chopped competition intermixed throughout. Snack and Lunch is provided. Ages: 8-13 | Cost: $10 | Class Limit: 12
June 30 Sewing Camp from 9:00- 3:00
- During this program youth will learn the basics of sewing with a sewing machine and learn several different sewing techniques. Please bring your lunch and a creative mind! Snacks will be provided. Classes will be held at the Northampton County Cooperative Extension office in Jackson and NCSU. Ages: 8-13 | Cost: $10 | Class Limit: 6
July 2-7 4-H Camp at Betsy-Jeff Penn 4-H Center
- Canoeing, Archery, Marine Biology, Rock Walls, Swimming, these are just some of the fun activities waiting for you at 4‐H camp! Travel with us to Betsy-Jeff Penn 4-H Center for a week of fun times and new friends. You won’t want to miss this opportunity! Ages 8-13 |Cost: $297 | Class Limit: 10
July 18 Gardening Camp from 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.
- Ready to get your hands dirty? Join Us for a fun day in the garden learning about plants while doing fun activities and taking tours. Please bring a bag lunch and dress comfortably. Ages 5-18| Cost: $10| Class Limit: 10
July 19 Carolina Mudcats Baseball Game –from 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.
- Join us for a fun day of baseball at a Carolina Mudcats Baseball game! The game starts at 11 a.m. Youth will need to bring money for lunch/ concessions they would like to purchase. Ages: 8-18 | Cost: $15 | Class Limit: 9
July 22-25 4-H Congress
- North Carolina 4-H Congress is an event planned by elected 4-H Teens with leadership from the state 4-H Office. This is a youth development leadership, citizenship and life skill development program that includes fun workshops, dances, and so much more. Please call our office if your child is interested in going to 4-H Congress. This event is for all youth ages 14-18 years old as of January 1, 2023. Cost is TBA.
July 27 Library Exploration Camp from 9:00 a.m.-2 p.m.
- Join us as we visit Northampton Memorial Library to learn all about what it’s like to be a librarian. We will explore the library systems and the way they operate to help and serve our community. Please bring a bag lunch. Ages: 8-13| Cost: FREE | Class Limit: 10
July 28 Agriculture Farm Safety from 10:00-2:00
- Don’t be a stranger to danger, learn about all the fun ways we protect ourselves on the farm. Ages: 8-13 | Cost: Free | Class Limit: none
August 1 Arts & Crafts Camp from 9:00- 2:00
- This craft workshop is for youth ages 5-7 years as of January 1, 2023. Youth will learn how to make several crafts that can be entered into the state fair. Bring a bag lunch. Waters and snacks will be provided. Ages: 5-7 | Cost: $10 | Class Limit: 10
August 3 Sylvan Bird Park from 9:00- 3:00
- Join us for a fun day down at Sylvan Heights bird park in Scotland Neck. We will meet over 200 species of birds and enjoy a hands-on class as we tour around this wonderful park. Bring a bag lunch and sunscreen. Waters and snacks will be provided. We will meet at the Northampton County Extension office. Ages 5-13 | Cost: $15 | Class Limit: 10
August 7 How to Bake a Blueberry from 9:00- 3:00
- Youth will take a trip to the blueberry patch in Halifax, NC and pick fresh blueberries. They will also learn about blueberry production and how they are grown. Back in the Extension office kitchen we will learn hands-on how to make goodies made with blueberries. Bring a bag lunch, sunscreen and hat. Waters and snacks will be provided. Ages 5-13 | Cost: $10 | Class Limit 10
August 9 Cloverbud Outdoor Fishing from 9:00 -2:30
- Join a fisherman on the banks of the river to spend a relaxing day fishing. Learn how to bait your hook, take your catch off the hook, bodies of water, tying knots, and so much more. This is sure to be a relaxing day on the banks of the river with some good fishing. Bring a bag lunch and sunscreen. Waters and snacks will be provided. Ages: 5-7 | Cost: $10 | Class Limit: 10
August 10 Outdoor Fishing and Water Safety from 9:00 a.m.- 3:30 p.m.
- Join a fisherman on the banks of the river to spend a relaxing day fishing. Learn how to bait your hook, take your catch off the hook, bodies of water, tying knots, and so much more. August 14 END OF SUMMER Block Party CELEBRATION from 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m.
