With 2022 approaching quickly, we will soon begin interviews for Extension Master Gardener Volunteer candidates.

The Master Gardener Volunteer training course will offer 40 hours of research-based training in sustainable gardening best practices. Covered topics will include vegetable gardening, integrated pest management, plant propagation, and other chapters in the Extension Gardener Handbook. The course will start in mid-January with classes meeting for three hours one day each week. Classes will be offered in Halifax and Northampton counties in a “hybrid” format, which will allow new trainees to attend either in-person or online. In-person classes will be offered at the N.C. Cooperative Extension offices in Halifax County and Northampton County. A detailed syllabus will be available in December. Trainees will need to attend all classes to complete the training and become a Master Gardener Volunteer.

If interested, please contact John Lyttle at (252) 583-5161 or (252) 534-2831 for more information. Program applications available upon request.
