Northampton County is located in northeastern North Carolina astride the state’s Coastal Plain and Piedmont regions. Northampton County was formed from Bertie County in 1741 and named for George, Earl of Northampton (England).

Northampton County consists of 538.3 square miles. Northampton county is proud of the fact that we have been a leader in cotton production in the state for several years. Agri-business accounts or approximately half of the revenues generated by local business. The principal types of farm products are cotton, broilers and hogs.
