Northampton County 4-H members that participated in District Activity Day. March, 2014

Twenty-four young people between the ages of 5 and 16 competed at the Northeast District’s 4-H District Activity Day (DAD) in Elizabeth City on March 22, 2014. Six of the 4-H members were participating for the first time in this annual public-speaking competition. Each young person chose a topic of personal interest and created a 5-12 minute verbal presentation. Their  topics ranged from Foods and Nutrition to Safety to Health and Fitness, among others.

Gold medal winners were: Chawki Deida, Omoni Harris, Amani Harris, Blake Bolton, Josiah Harris and Gregory Harris (team presentation), Bahaye Deida, and Rebecca McDermott.

Silver medalists were Julianna Powers and Hayley Burgess.

Bronze medal winners were: Emma Storey; Joe Harris, Jr.; Shannon Harris; and Ben Bolton.

Holden Burgess, Hannah McDermott, Gabrielle Harris, and Nashia Harris also competed.

The Cloverbud, or 5-8 year old non-competitive presenters, were: Jeremiah Harris, Anasha Harris, Leah McDermott, Kevin Pernell, Morgan Powers, and Keonte Cary.

These young people worked very hard to create quality presentations and are to be congratulated! The gold and silver medalists are invited to compete at the state level during 4-H Congress in June.
