Northampton County 4-H Photography Workshop participants. March, 2014.

On March 24-26, 2014, Les Atkins, of Les Atkins Photography, taught a 4-H Photography workshop to 18 teenagers and adults in Northampton County. Through a grant funded through the North Carolina Arts Council and given by the Northampton County Cultural Arts Committee, participants learned the parts of a camera, took photos with digital cameras, discovered the effects of lighting and shadows, and edited their pictures during the three-day workshop. Mr. Atkins used 4-H photography curriculum books to help participants discover the art of photography; each participant received their own copy. They practiced their knowledge with hands-on exercises, which included visiting the beautiful Church of the Saviour in Jackson to take photos. All participants were given a USB flash drive to easily transport their digital photos.
