During Spring Break, Northampton County 4-H members took a trip to Mr. Ladlee’s Bird Farm in Henrico, NC to learn about his wide array of birds!  Ladlee’s hosts peacocks, turkeys, pheasants, quail, chickens, and MUCH more.  Mr. Ladlee gave everyone a tour of his farm and the 4-H’ers were amazed at the variety of birds they saw.  When asked what he learned, one 4-H’er commented that “the boys are the pretty birds and the girls are not!”

After visiting Ladlee’s the group went to River Falls Park in Weldon, NC for a picnic lunch and games on the field.  Each participant painted a bird house to take home before the end of the day.

What a great trip!

Mr. Ladlee has invited the public to tour his farm. Contact the Extension Office for his information.
